Paramount arriving in Murcia

Date posted: 17 September 2010

Following rumours over the last few months, major Hollywood studio Paramount Pictures has finally announced an agreement to build a Theme Park to Murcia and is expected to attract 3 million visitors a year to the area.

Michael Corcoran, President of Paramount Licensing said, "We believe Murcia presents a strong opportunity to bring a Paramount Movie Park to Europe and we look forward to working together with the Murcia Regional Government and Santa Monica Financial Services, S.A.  to develop this exciting project"

It is suggested it will be sited near Corvera Airport which is due to open in 2011. The park could bring thousands of jobs to the area in the construction of the Cinema park. The Theme Park will be an added bonus for  both owners and holidaymakers who visit our golf resorts in Murcia.

"The tourism infrastructure offered within the region of Murcia and the strong support for this project by the Murcia Regional Government provide ideal conditions to bring world-class entertainment to the people of Spain and its growing number of international visitors", added Michael Bartok, Executive Vice President, Recreation.

Murcia is just a short flight from the UK and with mild winter climate will surely make Murcia one of the hottest destinations for a family holiday in Europe.

The regional councillor for Culture and Tourism in Murcia Pedro Alberto Cruz said ‘it is the most important project undertaken in the region ever’.
